Now let’s put what you learned about logical puzzles into practice!
The layout below was developed for a local park. Each aspect has its own unique shape and is reserved for the following: see-saw, slide, roundabout, monkey bars and a bench.
The bench is as far away from the monkey bars as possible to avoid people getting hurt.
The slide is almost equidistant from the see-saw and roundabout. The monkey bars are not allocated to the heart. The roundabout is not allocated to the triangle
Remember, not all the information they present will be important. We need to work out what is represented by the monkey bars.
Looking at the box from afar, we see that three shapes are very close to each other, and two shapes are in the opposite corners.
When corroborating with the text, we see why it is useful to look at the box from afar.
It is likely that the triangle, semi circle and pentagon all relate to the phrase:
“The slide is almost equidistant from the see-saw and roundabout”.
This must mean that the semi-circle represents the slide. We know that the triangle and pentagon could both be either see-saw or roundabout.
To help us work out which one is which we can use:
“The roundabout is not allocated to the triangle”.
This means that the roundabout is therefore related to the pentagon, and the see-saw is related to the triangle. We now know the middle three shapes. We are left with bench and monkey bars.
We know that “the monkey bars are not allocated to the heart”. This means that the monkey bars must be the trapezium shape, so the answer is A, trapezium.
The map above shows the locations of a variety of places of worship
The church is equidistant from the mosque and the synagogue.
The gurdwara is the most easterly building in the town.
The temple is not the circle or the crescent.
The correct answer is D. The first step is to find the location of the church. The only shape equidistant between two others is the cross.
Next we ascertain that the most easterly building is the Heart and so this must be the gurdwara.
That means that the one remaining shape, the square, must be the temple and thus the answer is D.

Why is the temple not the moon?
Sun, 13 Jun 2021 01:48:48
Because it said that the temples is not the circle or the crescent.
Jamie drives around his university city. Each line represents the route he takes with the time for the drive listed next to it. The road directly between the university and accommodation is one-way in the direction of the arrow
The correct answer is B. Whilst the time travelled between these two locations is the same, this doesn’t mean that the distance is equal and so B is the incorrect statement.
A is not the correct answer. This is because the question specifically states that the journey takes at least 7 minutes, which is correct because it would take more than 7 minutes. This type of linguistic specificity is common in the UCAT, and worth being vigilant for.
Wed, 13 Jan 2021 08:58:49
Anyone wondering why it is not A is because the answer states a minimum of 7 minutes, not that the trip will take 7 minutes.
Wed, 04 Aug 2021 18:53:43
Can't be A because there is no trip that will take a minimum 7 minutes, the actual minimum will be 12 mins i think if he goes to gym and the uni from there.
Tue, 31 Aug 2021 06:36:01
If you go from the accommodation to the university, then to the gym, then to the GP surgery, and finally to the church it would take 23 minutes, no?
Sat, 18 Sep 2021 20:32:05
@nour no you can't go from the accommodation to the university because it only allows one direction. The only longest direction would be: AC > GYM > GP > CHURCH 10 + 7 + 4 = 21

fuck this shit
William lives in flat one and Lucy lives as far away from him as possible. David lives in an odd numbered flat. Sally is neighbours with Robin who is adjacent to Lucy. David does not live opposite to Lucy and has neighbours on both sides. Mhairi is not neighbours with David.
The correct answer is D. First of all William lives in Flat one and so Lucy must live in Flat 8.
From this statement we can see that Robin lives in Flat 7, adjacent to Lucy with Sally in Flat 6.
This means that Sally cannot live in Flat 7 and so the answer which cannot be true is D.

Three mixed doubles tennis pairs are sat around a round table discussing their upcoming matches.
Jamie is on the left of a woman who is on the left of a man who is on the left of Alicia.
Catherine is on the left of a man who is on the left of a woman who is on the left of a man who is on the left of Alicia.
Boris has two people between him and his partner.
Roberto is not next to his partner but his best friend Jamie is two seats away on his left.
Kiki is on the left of a man who is on the left of a woman who is on the left of Boris.
No player is sat next to their playing partner.
The correct answer is C. Firstly we can place Jamie and Alicia. We know that the order goes – Jamie, Woman, Man, Alicia as shown in the diagram opposite.
Next we can see that for Catherine it goes Catherine, Man, Woman, Man, Woman, Alicia as represented on the right diagram.
This means we can place Catherine on Jamie’s left on the diagram on the left.
From the next line, we can place Roberto two places to the right of Jamie.
We now can see that Roberto is not sat next to Catherine and as she is the only woman he is not sat next to, she must be his playing partner and so the answer is C.

forgot to read the final statement, "no player is sat next to their playing partner", so i assumed that boris is partnered with alicia
Dan, Tim, Jenna, Tom, David, Marion, Cameron and Theresa live in 8 flats surrounding a green space.
Tim lives adjacent to Dan and Cameron.
Those who live in corner flats do not have a view of the green space. Tom sees Tim’s flat opposite from his back window. Jenna and David like watching the birds in the trees in the green space from their windows.
Marion lives next to Jenna and Tom
The correct answer is A. First of all we can see that Tim and Tom live opposite in middle flats.
Jenna and David must occupy either of the the other two middle spots given they have views of the green space.
Dan and Cameron must live in corner flats next to Tim.
Dan and Cameron must live in corner flats next to Tim. This means that Dan can be either three or one flat away from Jenna but not two flats apart and so A cannot be true

How can you tell that Tom and Tim are in the middle, why can't they be in any position as long as they're opposite each other (such as the LHS or RHS)
Thu, 05 Aug 2021 17:21:32
Coz how can u have a window in a corner? pls dont become an architect
Sat, 21 Aug 2021 07:04:22
how is c not the answer
Sun, 29 Aug 2021 14:36:20
Cant be C because Jenna and David are opposite each other on the LHS and RHS respectively, and since Tom is flat 6 and Tim is flat 2, option C is true, so the answer ain't C.

Three male-female pairs of competitors on a popular TV show are sat around a round table for dinner.
They are organised in male-female-male order.
Tommy is on the left of a woman who is on the right of Molly-Mae’s partner.
Yewande is on the left of Tommy.
Molly-Mae is two seats clockwise from Yewande
Joe is on the left of Lucie.
Curtis is between Yewande and Molly-mae
The correct answer is C. The only information to answer this question is the third line. If Tommy is on the left of the woman, he is the person on the right of the woman. This means that he must be Molly-Mae’s partner.

The question didn't state that the order in which they sit corresponds to their pairing.
The map above shows the locations of a variety of places in town.
The forest is the most southerly place in town.
The star represents the school which is northeast of the town hall.
The estate is not represented by the circle.
The correct answer is D. The forest is the most southerly and so it must be represented by the heart.
We are told that the school is the star and the star is northeast of the square and so the square must be the town hall.
The only two shapes remaining are the circle and the pentagon. As we are told that the estate is not represented by the circle, it must be represented by the pentagon and so the answer is D.

this question is just evil, didnt see the compass was inverted
There is a group of 8 sitting around a rectangular table with 3 on each side and 1 at each end.
The correct answer is A. From the first line we can say that Charlie and Gareth are at either end of the table
From the next line, we can say that Andi or Dani occupy the seats next to Ellie and Farhan sits in the middle of the other side.
From the final line, we can say that Bryan is between Farhan and Gareth with Andi between Ellie and Gareth. This means that Andi cannot be next to Charlie.

next time could you please draw the info out? It's hard to understand when it's just words. Thanks.
The map above shows the locations of a variety of places in a children’s adventure camp.
Four accommodation blocks named A – D surround the camp. The canteen is represented by the triangle which is south of Accommodation Block D. Block C is opposite Block B which is closest to the star which represents the high ropes. The heart represents the adventure course.
The correct answer is A. From this line we can tell that the leftmost block is Block D because the triangle is south of it.
From the next line we can tell that the accommodation block B is the bottom rectangle and C is the top. This leaves block A as the block represented by the question mark.
